SPEAKER, PLAYWRIGHT, and AUTHOR
Brian’s theatre career started in 1959, direct from National Service, and has taken him to forty-four different countries including three residencies in the Middle East;
eight tours of the Indian sub-continent and two circumnavigations of the globe.
He has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, Scottish Opera,
Sadler’s Wells and London Festival Ballet Companies, Nottingham Playhouse,
Manchester Library Theatre and Joan Littlewood’s Theatre Workshop Company.
Approaching retirement he started to ‘branch out’ - directing; writing scripts, and giving Talks.
Details of his Talks and Presentations, Scripts and Books, fill the pages of this website.
A QUICK GUIDE TO THE WEBSITE:
TALKS:Straightforward ‘chats’ - just me and a lectern.
POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS: Chats with pictures.
Semi-staged SHOWS: Simple ‘performances’ with furniture and props.
DOUBLE BILLS: Combine any two of the above to make a full-length show for a Festival or Arts Centre.
ATWP-ARUNDEL: We sell books online: mostly specialist theatre books. And publish a few, too.
BOOKS: The introduction to my latest book, SEARCHING FOR MY TAMBOURINE, is printed in full on this page.
SCRIPTS: I’ve written and/or adapted fourteen scripts. Some are available in marked-up sets for Play-reading groups.
CONTACTS: All essential contact details, including our new address in Arundel.
PLEASE NOTE: We shall not be accepting bookings for Talks or Presentations after December 2024
Most groups book a year or eighteen months in advance. I’ll be 86 in 2024 and I really don’t want to be looking at long-term commitments at that age so I’ve chosen a cut-off date. I enjoy what I do, and I hope that anyone with a sudden emergency or cancellation after that date will give me a call: if I can help, I will. Otherwise, look out for me back in the world of theatre.
